A few months ago i was hired to shoot a Grey Goose vodka food pairing event at Union Steakhouse located in the Aria Resort and Casino, for Vegas Magazine. When i got there, there seemed to be a miss communication, turns out it was not an “event” at all, and they just needed product shots.
I had to think quickly, i was asked to do some product shots when i was orignally sent there to shoot atmosphere and people. So i immediately took my flash bracket off and setup a makeshift lightstand with it, and grabbed a cloth napkin off the table, used some gaff tape (i always have some wrapped on my lens hood for emergencies) to affix it to a menu, used the pop up flash as a flash commander and a bit of fill light, and Viola! A make shift studio!

Strobist info:
Sb800 cam left set for CLS Remote,
D700 set to commander,
makeshift vcard with napkin and menu.
Not the best setup for food, but better than on camera flash.
